Solo afternoon in Bangsar, KL 🇲🇾

On my free day in Kuala Lumpur after my work trip had concluded, I slept in and headed out to nearby Bangsar area for brunch and shopping. I found a cafe called, Kopenhagen Coffee Kapas nearby and headed there right away around 12pm on a Sunday afternoon.

When I arrived, it was already packed and had a queue. But because I was alone, I was able to get a table quickly! 🙌🏻 I was seated by the high table/chair and told to order via the QR code. I decided to build my own breakfast! The order was 5 dishes for RM41 and I got the waffle 🧇, scrambled eggs with shaved parmesan 🥚, chicken chorizo 🍗, butter with sea salt 🧈 and maple syrup 🍁. I also got a glass of Iced Latte. Both the coffee ☕️ and food was amazing! Not cheap but worth it! ✨

Then I headed over to somewhere I’ve been wanting to go, A Place Where - APW! It’s a little space with lots of start ups and local brands. They’ve got a few cafes and restaurants there too and vibes were pretty chill! 😎 cheak, which is a Singaporean activewear brand is opening soon as I saw the posters on a hoarding. They’ve also got a vending machine for Chuck’s cosmetics - pretty cool!

If you love good scents and candles, you gotta check out Lilin+co. But I believe you can find them in lots of other distributors too.

What I was really there for was a local Malaysian brand called Overthink.co ❤️ they sell perfumes, essential oils, body oils, lotions and shower products too. The scents are pretty unique and I bought a handful to try! I got their signature, Hibis-kiss that’s inspired by the national flower of Malaysia, hibiscus 🌺 also got the Naked Rose 🌹 the staff were all very knowledgeable and was able to share the notes of all the scents pretty well and was super helpful too! Loved the vibes. Can’t wait to use the scents and try more hopefully next time!

APW Bangsar
6/21 Edited to

... Read moreSpending a solo afternoon in Bangsar offers a charming mix of culinary and shopping experiences that cater well to individual explorers. One of the highlights is Kopenhagen Coffee Kapas, where despite the crowd on a Sunday afternoon, seating is surprisingly quick for solo visitors due to the high table setup. Ordering via QR code adds a modern touch, allowing you to customize a breakfast plate perfectly suited to your taste buds. The combination of waffle, scrambled eggs with shaved parmesan, chicken chorizo, butter with sea salt, and maple syrup paired with an iced latte makes for a satisfying, albeit slightly premium-priced, meal. After brunch, venturing into A Place Where (APW) is like stepping into a trendy community hub that supports local startups and independent brands. The presence of cafes, restaurants, and unique retail concepts such as the Singaporean activewear brand Cheak Cheak and Chuck’s cosmetics vending machine highlights the innovative spirit of the area. This space provides a relaxed vibe perfect for unwinding or discovering new products. For lovers of fragrances and home scents, Bangsar is home to gems like Lilin+co and Overthink.co. Overthink.co stands out with its distinctive Malaysian-inspired scents, including the signature Hibis-kiss reminiscent of the national hibiscus flower. The staff’s expertise enhances the shopping experience, providing detailed notes on their perfume and body care range, which includes essential and body oils, lotions, and shower products. Sampling these unique aromas offers a personal connection to local artistry in scent crafting. Exploring Bangsar solo allows the freedom to leisurely soak in the atmosphere, engage with passionate local sellers, and savor meals at your own pace. It’s an ideal way to experience Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant food and retail scene with a personal touch, making every visit unique and memorable.
