My Current Work in Progress:
📖 Name of the Book: Ember Heights
📄 Plot: Set in a town divided by socioeconomic status, Jones Gill lives on what he considers to be the better side of Kiwi Lagoon with all the billionaires and celebrities. Though he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he never quite feels like he’s good enough and wholeheartedly believes he can’t do anything right. When he finds himself infatuated with a man from the other side of town, he has to decide whether he is going to protect his reputation or accept the risk and step out of his comfort zone. Ember Heights is a story about the process of opening yourself to the discomfort of change, learning to accept yourself for who you are, and openly being yourself without fear of what other people might think.
📖 Genre: LGBTQ+ literary fiction
📄 My Favorite Quote: “What if it wasn’t a woman?”

Ember Heights is more than just a tale of love; it dives deep into the complexities of identity and societal expectations. The narrative paints a vivid picture of a town split by wealth and privilege, contrasting the glittering lives of the elite with those navigating the struggles of lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Jones Gill, our protagonist, embodies the inner conflict many face—caught between societal expectations and personal truths. This coming-of-age story not only highlights the challenges of accepting oneself in the face of external judgment but also the beauty that unfolds when one dares to step outside their comfort zone. It's an exploration of love that transcends societal divisions, a theme that resonates strongly in today’s often polarized world. The title of the book, representing both a literal location and a metaphorical state of being, serves as a reminder that love can flourish in the most unexpected places, challenging our preconceived notions of attraction and connection. As readers follow Jones's journey, they'll encounter relatable themes of fear, vulnerability, and the boldness it takes to embrace one's true self. The quote, “What if it wasn’t a woman?” encapsulates the essence of breaking boundaries and challenging norms, encouraging readers to reflect on their own experiences with identity and love. This deeply moving narrative not only captivates with its plot but also invites discussions about acceptance and change—critical topics for today's audience. In summary, Ember Heights is not just a literary work; it is a call to action to embrace authenticity in every facet of life.
