Marigolds in full bloom 🌼

Got these just before CNY from World Farm, and they’re still thriving. New buds coming in, more sunshine vibes ahead ✨.

Super low cost, low effort. Just rotate the pot occasionally as they grow fast towards the light, if not it’ll tilt. Probably the easiest flowering plant I’ve had, and high ROI with so many blooms haha.

For context, I placed them in my edibles garden, which used to have pollination issues. Not sure if it’s a coincidence but I finally got a baby eggplant after 1 to 2 years of waiting 👀🌱. #Marigold #MyFreeTime #ThingsToDo #MyPOV #Sgplants

... Read moreGrowing marigolds has been one of my favorite gardening experiences because of how forgiving and rewarding they are. These cheerful flowers not only brighten up any space with their bright yellow-orange blooms but also require surprisingly little care. From my experience, a simple rotation of the pot ensures they receive even sunlight, helping the plants grow upright rather than leaning awkwardly. What intrigued me the most was how marigolds seem to support the broader health of my garden. After adding them to my edible garden, an area that struggled with pollination, I noticed a significant improvement. This was evident when I finally harvested a baby eggplant, a rare success after waiting for over a year. Although it’s hard to prove direct causation, the presence of marigolds likely attracted more pollinators like bees and butterflies, which are vital for fruiting plants. For anyone hesitant about diving into gardening, marigolds are the perfect starter plants. They are affordable, readily available (I picked mine up from World Farm just before Chinese New Year), and resilient against many pests. Their ability to bloom continuously with minimal watering or fuss makes them ideal for small urban gardens or balconies too. Another bonus is that marigolds can act as natural pest repellents. Their scent discourages some insects that might otherwise harm your vegetables, creating a healthier environment for your plants without chemical pesticides. If you’re thinking of adding marigolds to your collection, consider placing them strategically near your vegetable patches or areas that receive lots of sunlight. Regular, gentle pot rotation and basic watering routines should keep them thriving. Watching these flowers brighten up week by week offers a wonderful sense of accomplishment and a calming gardening experience. In my daily routine, spending a few minutes tending to my marigolds mostly involves checking moisture levels and ensuring they catch enough light. Seeing the new buds bloom and the garden buzzing with pollinators reinforces why they’ve become a staple in my garden. Overall, marigolds deliver excellent visual appeal, practical benefits, and an uplifting gardening journey—definitely worth trying if you want beautiful blooms with little effort.
