Our first overseas run: 42KM PB vs. 10KM🎖️

Running an overseas marathon is an exhilarating experience that goes beyond just crossing the finish line. From personal experience, the Gold Coast Marathon weekend offers not only the challenge of the race itself but a chance to soak in an inspiring and supportive atmosphere that fuels your motivation. Watching a loved one achieve a 42KM personal best while tackling my own 10KM race was incredibly uplifting. The energy on race day is contagious, with spectators lining the streets, cheering enthusiastically, and creating a celebration of endurance and community spirit. Acting as a ‘personal fan cam’ for my partner the day after gave me a unique perspective on the significance of such an event—not only for the runners but for everyone involved. Preparation for an overseas marathon involves acclimating to a new environment and pacing strategies that suit local conditions. Whether it’s managing humidity, navigating unfamiliar terrain, or simply soaking in the scenic coastal route, each factor contributes to the overall enjoyment and performance.
