Where Time Does Not Follow
I often think heaven does not live
in borrowed time like we do here.
No days to count,
no weeks to endure,
no years asking us to be strong.
There are no clocks leaning forward,
no moments slipping through fingers.
Only presence,
wide, patient, and complete.
I don’t think pain knows that place.
Pain belongs to bodies learning gravity,
to hearts stretched by love
in a world that breaks and heals.
In heaven, nothing rushes.
Nothing aches.
Love does not bruise to be real.
What we miss here
is already whole there.
What we grieve here
is resting beyond measure.
And maybe that is why
love still reaches us,
because it was never bound by time,
and it never learned how to hurt.
