#lifeinmyforties
Hi I'm Xing and I will be documenting my #lifeinmyforties every now and then! I am a single mom, a psychology undergrad and an independent parent-child family mentor. I was an educator for over 20 years and with all that I have gained over the decades, I want to help other parents (new, experienced or single) navigate their life with their children, the good, the bad and the ugly (iykyk). Reach out if you have any questions on baby & early childhood, primary/secondary woes, family matters etc.
Meanwhile, I hope my #lifeinmyforties would be a message to you that being in your forties doesn't feel that old after all! 😆 besides feeling a little achy every now and then!

Navigating life in your forties as a single parent can feel like a complex journey full of unexpected challenges and rewarding milestones. From my experience, embracing this phase means being open to continual learning—not only about your children but also about yourself. For example, balancing studies while parenting taught me the importance of time management and seeking support when needed. One of the most valuable insights I gained as an educator and parent-child mentor is understanding that every child's developmental stage brings unique joys and struggles. Whether you're dealing with baby milestones or the angst of adolescence, patience paired with informed strategies makes a big difference. Moreover, the emotional ups and downs are real; you may find yourself revisiting feelings you thought were long overcome. It's perfectly normal to feel vulnerable sometimes, and sharing your experiences with a supportive community can provide both comfort and practical advice. Physically, the forties might bring some aches and pains, but staying active and prioritizing self-care can help greatly. Things like gentle stretching, mindfulness practices, and regular rest have personally helped me sustain my well-being. If you're a parent navigating the highs and lows of raising children—especially as a single mom or someone managing many roles—you’re not alone. Resources such as parenting forums, psychology insights, and mentorship programs can make a meaningful difference. Connecting with others through hashtags like #lifeinmyforties creates a community where honest conversations about parenthood and personal growth flourish. Remember, life in your forties is not about slowing down but about thriving with greater wisdom and resilience. Embrace the journey with all its imperfections, and you’ll find it to be a truly rich and fulfilling chapter.
