First day of Chemo.

... Read moreStarting chemotherapy can be an overwhelming experience, especially on the very first day. From my journey, I found that preparing mentally and physically made a significant difference. The 2-hour infusion combined with an IV push may sound daunting, but staying hydrated beforehand helps combat the extreme thirst that often follows treatment. Sleepiness is another common side effect I encountered early on. To manage this, taking short naps when possible and avoiding strenuous activities helped me maintain my energy. Dryness of mouth can be uncomfortable; I recommend frequent sips of water or sugar-free lozenges to relieve this symptom. Nausea, although manageable, requires attention. I found that eating small, bland meals before treatment and having anti-nausea medication prescribed by my doctor made it easier to cope. It's important to listen to your body and communicate openly with your healthcare team about any side effects you experience. Sharing these experiences not only raises cancer awareness but also connects others facing similar battles, especially those going through chemo while pregnant or balancing complex health challenges. Remember, each day of treatment is a step toward strength and healing—stronger than cancer!

Chemo while pregnant?!
I was the youngest in the chemo ward at KKH. It was during Covid, so there were fewer people around. Maybe that helped, but it didn’t make things any easier. The hair fall got to me at the start, until I decided to shave it off. That moment gave me back control. I felt proud to walk bald. Che

💝 My Chemo Chapter💝
Chemo was never something I imagined for myself. But when the diagnosis came, I didn’t have the luxury of fear — I only had the choice to fight. What people don’t see is that chemo is not just medicine. It is a whole journey by itself: • The quiet moments before the first drip • The uncer

slowing down
Brought dad for his day 1/30 of his radiotherapy sessions at the hospital. It makes me sad that he still has to go through these despite the surgery, chemotherapy drip then chemotherapy oral medication even at 78 years old. But also grateful that he is given the chance to live longer because

Dealing with HFMD for the first time🦠🦠🦠
Technically, this isn’t her first time — she had something similar before and it turned out to be herpangina. But this time felt different. It started with a 38°C fever and a lot of fussiness. Her milk intake dropped, and with no other symptoms, I suspected it might be herpangina or HFMD. So I c

I took a confinement lady?!
Late post but wanted to share more. There's been an increase in demand for confinement ladies for the Malay community. It used to only be common for Chinese mummies but I think Malay mummies now are looking into it for proper postpartum care and support. This was one of my non-negotiables wi
