AC chemo side effect

My hair started falling out 2 weeks after my first chemo. Woke up feeling my scalp inflamed and seeing hair all over my pillows and bed. Hair loss is something I already expected but seeing chunks of hair everywhere it is still daunting. I’m losing Not only my hair on my head but even lashes, eyebrows and those hair down there 🫣😅

So now I’m nagging the husband that I wanted to go to the salon for a haircut. He doesn’t want me to go alone ( which I’m actually fine )and wants to accompany me, so I’m waiting until he’s free from work. I’m going bald this time because gurl, keeping up and cleaning all those falling hair is just an arduous task

It’s been an emotional journey but my spirits are still high 💪🏻💪🏻Im losing my security blanket, memory, part of my identity but I will be filling my cup of courage, motivation and faith until I reach that finish line of HEALING. 🩷🩷

... Read moreExperiencing hair loss during AC chemotherapy can be overwhelming, but connecting with others who understand the journey helps a lot. From my experience, preparing for hair loss before starting chemo gave me a sense of control. I found that gentle scalp massages and moisturizing the scalp helped reduce inflammation and dryness, which are common side effects alongside hair shedding. Additionally, opting for short hairstyles or even a buzz cut early on made managing the falling hair easier. Wearing satin pillowcases also helped minimize hair breakage and scalp irritation during sleep. Supportive partners or friends accompanying you to the salon or during these changes can provide much-needed emotional comfort. Emotionally, it’s important to acknowledge that losing hair impacts not just appearance but also one’s sense of identity. Engaging in supportive communities, whether online or in person, allowed me to share feelings openly and uplift my motivation. Maintaining routines like exercise, meditation, or creative hobbies helped keep my spirit positive through the tough days. Finally, exploring headwear options such as scarves, hats, or wigs prior to hair loss gave me alternatives to boost confidence and express myself. Coping with chemo’s side effects is undoubtedly challenging, but embracing a holistic approach—taking care of scalp health, seeking emotional support, and adapting to changes—can empower anyone on this path toward healing.

Chemo while pregnant?!
I was the youngest in the chemo ward at KKH. It was during Covid, so there were fewer people around. Maybe that helped, but it didn’t make things any easier. The hair fall got to me at the start, until I decided to shave it off. That moment gave me back control. I felt proud to walk bald. Che
