4/30 Consistency is key. Showing up is the hardest part. I had ZERO wants to to be there. To be quite honest, my body was throwing flags the whole time. My heart rate was hella elevated, staying in zone 4&5 for over half of the run and I was not running fast at all. But if I don’t put in the work, hyrox is going to be a huge disappointment and I would be letting my doubles partner down. So I showed up and do the damn thing. And I have no regrets! Doing it for future Rachel! 🔥
Staying consistent in fitness, especially for demanding events like Hyrox, often means pushing through moments when your body and mind resist. I’ve learned that understanding your heart rate zones is crucial—spending extended time in zones 4 and 5, as I did, indicates a high-intensity effort that builds endurance, even if the pace feels slow. Tracking these metrics during training can help you recognize the quality of your workouts beyond just speed. Balancing fitness goals with a busy life requires prioritization and mental toughness. For example, fitting in a 5.3-mile run after a long workday and family activities like flag football shows the importance of scheduling and dedication. Even on days when motivation dips, showing up is vital—not just for yourself but also if you have a partner relying on you, as I do for Hyrox doubles. Personally, I find that reminding myself I’m training for my future self helps sustain motivation. It’s about the long-term investment in health, strength, and mental resilience. Sharing your journey, including struggles and triumphs, can inspire others facing similar challenges. Remember, it’s not about perfection but progress, consistency, and commitment to your goals.
