1 Month of Motherhood🩵

I’m officially one month into being a mom and it’s been the most beautiful, exhausting, emotional, love filled month of my life. Nothing truly prepares you for it, but here are a few things I’ve learned so far:

Things I’ve Learned:

🩵 Sleep when the baby sleeps is actually real advice (even if the house gets messy)

🩵 Two way zipper onesies are a MUST especially for middle of the night diaper changes

🩵 During the day it helps to wake baby every 2–3 hours to feed, but at night letting them sleep longer stretches is usually best

🩵 You start to learn your baby’s different cries and what they need

🩵 Trusting your instincts gets easier every day

🩵 Contact naps quickly become your favorite moments

🩵 The little routines you create start to make the days feel easier

Things I Didn’t Expect:

🤍 How emotional postpartum would be

🤍 How often I would just stare at my baby while they sleep

🤍 That I’d basically be wearing a bra 24/7 with nipple pads

🤍 How exhausting cluster feeding can be

🤍 How fast time already feels like it’s going

🤍 How strong the love would be instantly and endlessly

Month 1 Reality:

Some moments feel magical, some moments feel really hard, and most days are a mix of both. But watching this tiny human grow and getting to be his mom makes every sleepless night worth it.

To any other moms in the first month you’re doing better than you think. ♥️

... Read moreReflecting on my first month of motherhood, one thing that truly stood out was how those simple pieces of advice everyone shares really do hold weight. For instance, sleeping when the baby sleeps isn't just a cliché—it’s essential survival strategy, even if it means the housework waits. It took me a while to accept that prioritizing rest over tidiness was necessary. Another practical tip I learned the hard way was the value of those two-way zipper onesies. Middle-of-the-night diaper changes become so much less stressful and faster with them! It’s these small adjustments that make a huge difference. The feeding schedule can feel overwhelming at times, especially with cluster feeding phases that seem never-ending. However, letting the baby lead at night with longer stretches of sleep proved beneficial for both of us. With time, you also start to soundly decode your baby’s various cries—a skill that feels like a superpower once you develop it. Emotionally, postpartum life can be a rollercoaster. I found myself unexpectedly staring at my baby for minutes on end, just soaking in the moment. Wearing a bra almost nonstop with nipple pads became the new norm, which was a quirky adjustment. The love I feel is instantaneous and boundless, yet it’s paired with exhaustion and emotional intensity. I learned to trust my instincts more each day and created little routines that brought calm to otherwise hectic days. Contact naps, where the baby sleeps while cuddled close, quickly became my treasured moments. To fellow moms in their first month, remember that it’s okay for some days to be tough—mixed emotions are normal and part of the journey. The magic and challenges together make motherhood deeply rewarding. You’re doing better than you think, and every sleepless night is a step closer to beautiful growth and bonding.

Things normalized in motherhood that aren’t normal
There’s a-lot more we go through that stays unsaid. We need to share more of those realistic moments and know we are all struggling in the same way, it’s sad that society has made these common and normalized in motherhood. It’s just another reason to believe that we are amazing.🩷
