Okay, so let's talk about something that every Fortnite player has wondered: AI bots. Are they real? How many are there? And honestly, how often do we mistake them for actual players? I've definitely had my fair share of 'epic eliminations' against what I thought was a super skilled opponent, only to realize later it was just an AI bot struggling to build a wall! It's pretty common now to encounter AI bots in Fortnite, especially in public matches. Epic Games introduced them to help fill up lobbies, give newer players an easier start, and keep the game flowing. But sometimes, they can be surprisingly tricky! I've been 'knocked down' by a bot that just got lucky with a shotgun blast, and it makes you rethink your strategy for a second. So, how do you spot an AI bot? From my experience, there are a few tell-tale signs. Bots often have very predictable movement patterns – they might walk in straight lines, struggle with complex builds, or even get stuck on environmental objects. Their aiming can be a dead giveaway too; sometimes they're incredibly accurate, and other times they miss every shot. I remember one time, I was trying to complete a challenge to 'use a telephone booth to don a disguise,' and I saw a bot just standing there, completely oblivious. Easy target for my 'IQA-11 MARKSMAN BLASTER RIFLE' to get an 'elimination' and some quick 'XP'! While bots are generally easier to defeat than human players, don't underestimate them completely. They're still programmed to engage, and sometimes they can land a lucky shot or apply pressure when you least expect it. I've even seen them mimic some player behaviors, like trying to pick up loot. It’s funny how they sometimes pick up a 'C-11 BLASTER' and just stand there. They're basically free 'XP' and a good way to warm up your aim, but they can still contribute to the chaos of a match. I've had some memorable moments with bots. One match, I was in a really intense build-off with what I thought was an actual player. We were trading shots with our 'ACP SCATTER BLASTER' and building furiously. Then, all of a sudden, they stopped building, started walking slowly into the storm, and I realized it was a bot! It was quite an 'epic elimination' but also a bit of a laugh. It just goes to show how immersed you can get, even with AI in the mix. Bots really change the dynamic of the game. They make it more accessible for new players, which is awesome, but for veterans, they can sometimes make matches feel a bit less competitive. However, they're great for practicing new weapons or trying out different strategies without the same pressure as fighting a full lobby of pros. Plus, who doesn't love racks of easy 'elimination' points to help them 'level up!'? What are your thoughts on Fortnite's AI bots? Do you find them helpful or annoying? I'd love to hear about your funniest or most surprising bot encounters in the comments!
