As November approaches, for any college student that means midterms and close to finals.
I am someone who HAS to study in order to do well in a class. Tried many ways of studying and I think I have come up with a semi-decent studying hack.
For biochem class it was going through lecture notes again, reading and writing what happens within a cycle that is taught. Once everything was written out, going over the important parts that I know will come up on an exam.
For physics: I have came up with a highlighting method. 🟡 for important key words, 🟣 for important information, 🔴 for equations needed, and 🟢 for highlighting sections and checkpoint/questions. Then at the end of every section and chapter there are questions on that specific section/chapter which goes on a different document that is only for that chapter. It important that once you finish the section/chapter to review with practice problems.
Lastly, I have discovered that Chatgpt is pretty good at creating conceptual and quantitative test questions. If you have sample exams for your specific class make sure to input into chatgpt and ask it to “create similar questions” it will do so and you will have additional problems that can help out.
Hope one of these things help in the long run.
Let me know what your study tips are down below!!!!
... Read moreAs college students face November's midterms, it's crucial to find effective studying techniques that maximize retention and understanding. One valuable strategy is active learning, which involves engaging with the material rather than passively reading. Using tools like flashcards can help reinforce memory by ensuring active recall.
Another method is forming study groups. Collaborating with peers can provide different perspectives on complex topics and promote discussion that deepens understanding. Additionally, consider breaking down your study sessions into manageable chunks (also known as the Pomodoro Technique) to maintain focus and reduce burnout. Each 25-minute study block followed by a short break can increase efficiency and help maintain high levels of concentration.
Incorporating technology can also be beneficial. Apps designed for studying can assist in organizing study schedules, creating digital flashcards, or finding practice quizzes tailored to specific subjects. Engaging with interactive content like videos or educational games can also make learning more enjoyable and effective.
Finally, don't underestimate the importance of self-care during intense study periods. Ensure you're getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, and taking time to relax, which can significantly influence cognitive performance. Experiment with these methods, and you may discover what works best for you in tackling this November’s study challenges.
