จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว พอได้ทำดีให้กับคนอื่นแล้ว เราบางครั้งก็เจอคนที่ตอบแทนดีและบางครั้งก็ไม่เหมือนกัน ความสำคัญอยู่ที่เราทำดีด้วยใจที่บริสุทธิ์ ไม่หวังผลตอบแทน เพราะหากเราตั้งใจทำดีเพื่อหวังผลจะทำให้ผิดหวังได้ง่าย ความใจดีเหมือนกับการปล่อยงูไว้ แต่ไม่ได้หมายความว่างูจะไม่กัดเราเหมือนกัน ในชีวิตจริงเราพบว่าสันดานและนิสัยใจคอของคนต่างกัน บางคนอาจดูเหมือนดี แต่เมื่อเวลาผ่านไปอาจแสดงออกที่แตกต่างไป เช่นเดียวกับงูที่มีพิษซ่อนอยู่ ทำให้เราต้องระวังตัวและไม่ไว้ใจใครง่ายๆ สิ่งที่สำคัญคือการรักษาสติรู้จักแยกแยะและปกป้องตัวเองจากคนที่ไม่ดี ถึงแม้จะทำดีกับเขาแต่ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าเขาจะดีตอบเสมอไป การรู้จักตั้งขอบเขตและไม่คาดหวังมากเกินไปช่วยให้เราปกป้องใจและลดความผิดหวังในชีวิตได้มากขึ้น สุดท้ายแล้วการทำความดีควรเป็นเพราะใจอยากทำ ไม่ใช่หวังผลตอบแทน การมีความเข้าใจในลักษณะของจิตใจมนุษย์และความไม่แน่นอนของชีวิตจะช่วยให้เรามีสุขภาพจิตดีขึ้นและมีความสุขกับการให้โดยไม่ต้องพะวงกับผลลัพธ์
