how much I spent in a day as a 19 yr old

this is what my Saturday looked like! I usually go out with my sister at least once a week and we would go eat and shop! Usually my sister would pay for the food and I buy the drinks since im still unemployed :/ i do have side hustles where I earn a little bit of cash tho. But most of the time at sister pays when we go out (she’s the best). However, i am still practicing my budgeting and trying to stick to little to no spending every month (max $100 spending a month) and its still below $100 this month :D but I think it might have to go over soon since i plan to buy concert tickets 😅 #biweeklybudget #lemon8partner

... Read moreNavigating personal finance as a young adult can be both exciting and challenging, especially when balancing limited income with social activities. At 19, it's common to rely partially on family support, such as the author’s sister paying for meals, while contributing where possible, like buying drinks—in this case, $13 spent on matcha for both. This dynamic showcases the importance of cooperative budgeting among family members to make outings affordable and enjoyable. Considering the author's monthly budget goal of keeping spending below $100, this disciplined approach reflects a strong commitment to financial responsibility despite being currently unemployed. Many young people similarly adopt side hustles to supplement income, ranging from freelance gigs to online sales, which provide invaluable lessons in money management and work ethic. In addition, the author's frequent visits to bookstores like Barnes & Noble, where they read favorite manga for free, illustrate smart, low-cost entertainment choices that enrich daily life without straining the budget. Such strategies diversify leisure activities beyond spending money, encouraging creativity and personal growth. As the author plans to overspend occasionally for special events like concert tickets, it signals an understanding that budgets should have flexibility to accommodate meaningful experiences. Overall, this example demonstrates practical money management for young adults balancing social life, family dynamics, and financial goals. Adopting a biweekly or monthly budget, tracking expenses, and prioritizing spending help build habits that lead to long-term financial wellness.
