HOW TO Make things more FUN as a CAREGIVER Pt. 1

Hello! ❤️

Here are some things/ideas I’d recommend implementing if possible to make things a more enjoyable for both you and your loved one that you’re caretaking for. ⬇️

1. Themed dinners. Does you parent/loved one/patient like Harry Potter? Disney? Lord of the Rings? Etc? Make them a themed dinner while they’re watching that movie series or TV show. ⛲️✨

2. Paint their nails or continue cuticle care with all Natural Products. They’re still human and might enjoy some more color in their life! 💅

3. Try aromatherapy. Lavender, Rosemary and Rose are wonderful starter essential oils. It can help set the mood - orange or lemon for uplifting, lavender or bergamot for winding down. 🪻

4. Get them simple, safe jewelry pieces. It helps one feel more normal with everything going on! 💎

5. Bath time is special/sacred time. Can you put crystals next to bath? Sage or palo santo it? Light an all natural candle? Put in pain relief bath salts?

Going through so much medically can be draining and painful - how can we create more safe, healing spaces? 🛁💚🌳

6. Lavender tea before bed for relaxation (or other teas like bedtime tea, chamomile tea, etc.). 🌸

7. Are there rivers you can drive by? Oceans? Parks? Conservatories? Being in nature (if safe & possible) can be healing and calming emotionally. 🌊🦆🌲🌷

8. Skincare routine! Having a structure of familiarity, like a Skincare routine, can be very helpful. Lymphatic facial oils, all natural skincare can help upkeep skin health as well as mental/emotional wellbeing. 🧖‍♀️

Cancer & chronic illness + the medical system strip you of your identity. They deeply affect your mental/emotional health and it’s not a conversation that happens ENOUGH. Let’s discuss! 🫶🏻

Did you find these creative ideas helpful? What would you recommend? Let me know in the comments! 😊

... Read moreAs caregivers, creating a joyful environment can significantly impact the well-being of both care recipients and caregivers themselves. Incorporating themed dinners based on your loved ones' favorite movies can foster a sense of nostalgia and joy during meal times. For instance, a Harry Potter-themed dinner can transport them to the enchanting world of Hogwarts, making ordinary moments memorable. Furthermore, nail care can offer a delightful change in routine. Using all-natural products not only cares for their nails but also adds a splash of color to their lives, fostering a sense of normalcy. Aromatherapy with essential oils like lavender and rosemary may help set a calming ambiance, ideal for relaxing after a long day. Jewelry can serve as a poignant reminder of their identity, providing a sense of normalcy during challenging times. Bath rituals can also be elevated by integrating elements like crystals or aromatherapy candles, transforming them into sacred, soothing experiences. Offering lavender tea before bed can enhance relaxation, while opportunities for connection with nature, such as visiting parks or riversides, can be emotionally rejuvenating. Integrating these practices not only enriches their daily lives but also promotes mental health, allowing for some respite from the challenges posed by chronic illness and caregiving responsibilities.
