I took the teas exam and here is what to expec

2025/6/19 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! I just wanted to share my recent TEAS exam experience because I know how stressful and overwhelming preparing for it can be. As someone who recently conquered it with a 95.3%, I wanted to give back and hopefully make your journey a little smoother. I studied for about 4 days, dedicating a good chunk of time each day, and it really paid off. Here’s what I learned and what you can expect. First, let's talk about the structure. The TEAS exam covers four main subjects: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage. Each section has a specific time limit and number of questions. Knowing this beforehand really helps with pacing yourself during the actual test. I found that the Reading section often includes passages followed by comprehension questions, while Math focuses on numbers, algebra, and measurements. English tests your grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Now, for the section many find the most challenging: Science. This is where a lot of the 'what's on the TEAS test' queries truly hit home. The Science section is quite broad, covering Anatomy and Physiology, Life and Physical Sciences, and Scientific Reasoning. From my experience, you definitely need a solid foundational understanding of these areas. I remember seeing questions on topics like psoriasis (skin conditions), understanding the structure and function of the Endocardium (heart lining), the gas exchange process involving Alveoli in the lungs, and the roles of various biological macromolecules (like proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids). Don't just memorize; try to understand the concepts behind them. For example, knowing the 'why' behind a physiological process is much more helpful than just recalling a definition. The images I saw during my study also emphasized specific areas like these, so pay close attention to biology and human body systems. What is the TEAS exam really like? It's intense, primarily because of the time constraints. You have to read questions carefully but quickly. I highly recommend taking practice tests to get a feel for the pacing and question style. ATI offers official practice materials, which I found invaluable in my preparation. These can give you a realistic idea of what to expect and highlight your weaker areas. For me, identifying those weak spots early on allowed me to focus my limited study time efficiently. My biggest tip for studying, especially if you have a short timeframe like my 4 days, is to use a structured study guide and focus on practice questions. Don't try to re-read every textbook. Instead, identify the key concepts for each section, practice applying them, and review your answers – especially the ones you got wrong. Understanding why an answer is incorrect is just as important as knowing the right one. Also, don't neglect the non-science sections. While science might feel daunting, the other sections are equally important for your overall score. Ensuring you're strong in them can balance out any trickier science questions. Finally, remember to get a good night's sleep before your exam, eat a good breakfast, and arrive early. Staying calm and confident can make a huge difference. You've prepared for this, and you can absolutely do it! Good luck to everyone embarking on their TEAS journey!
