After 1 year of Clear Aligners…. 🤐🫣

Heyyy Zesties, thought to just write down my aligner journey somewhere & decided Lemon8 is a great platform to do this 🤣

After 1 year, I’ve finally reached my last set of aligners, pending final dentist appointment to close off this chapter!!!

I’m so glad I finally did it, and these are the reasons:

(head to my profile to check, post is up hehe)

1️⃣ Lower cheeks slimmed down greatly, all along it was due to teeth misalignment that has caused puffiness.

2️⃣ My smile looks sooooo much more natural now

3️⃣ I can finally brush areas that were “blocked” by my crooked tooth. Some areas were decayed since debris gets in, and there’s no way to get it out 😳

HOWEVER there are def cons, some days I wonder why I didn’t just go with metal braces as for aligners, you need a ton of discipline to wear it at least 22hrs daily for promised results & keeping your aligner & teeth hygienic 24/7 takes a loooooot of effort. Will post another time too, think caption is getting too long 🤣

#alignerlife #MyPOV

Here’s my TLDR review:

💰 Price: $3k++ (not inclusive of final scan + retainer)

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 3.5 of 5

👍Why I like it: Can eat whatever I want, no metal to hurt my gums & no extraction needed

✨Brand: Dr Wondersmile / Dr Clear Aligners

... Read moreWhen choosing between different types of aligners, I found it important to understand how each type fits and what discipline they require. Clear retainers, for example, should fit snugly around your teeth without any gaps, ensuring they apply gentle pressure to move teeth effectively. Proper fit also helps avoid discomfort and keeps food debris out. From my experience, the discipline needed for wearing clear aligners is no joke—you need to wear them 22+ hours a day for best results. Unlike traditional metal braces, aligners are removable, which is great for eating whatever you want, but that also means you need to keep them and your teeth hygienic at all times. This involved rinsing the aligners frequently, brushing my teeth before putting them back in, and avoiding sugary drinks when wearing them. If you're wondering about starting braces, getting metal braces involves adjustments in lifestyle but can be less demanding on daily discipline compared to aligners. However, each person's dental needs and comfort preferences are different. Some prefer clear aligners for aesthetic reasons, while others prioritize speed of treatment. A tip I found helpful was using an app to track my aligner progress and reminders to change sets, which really kept me consistent. It's important to have regular check-ups with your dentist to monitor progress and make any needed corrections early on. Overall, I learned that the journey with clear aligners is as much about commitment as it is about the dental technology itself. If you’re patient and diligent, the results are rewarding—my lower cheeks slimmed, smile looks natural, and I can clean my teeth better than before. Keep in mind the cost and plan for the final scans and retainers post-treatment to maintain your new smile.

stop overpaying for retainers😁
did you know….. you’re actually supposed to replace your retainers every 1–2 years🫣 whyyy? over time, calcium buildup + poor cleaning can lead to: bad breath 🤢 & fungal infections 😥 honestly… I didn’t know either until recently! I knew they’d eventually need replacing, but mine went missing
