My daily productivity apps

As a content creator and a freelance content strategist, I need a second brain or somewhere store everything for me to refer back to. If not for storing, to help build products. I use both of these applications both professionally and personally.

1. Notion

A customizable workspace you can customize and tailor to your day to day. I use this to track everything in terms of content creation and clientele.

2. Milanote

A great app to start planning and ideating your projects. It’s even great for personal use such as a moodboard

... Read moreAs a fellow creator, I completely understand the struggle of juggling multiple projects and feeling like your brain is overflowing! That's why diving into the world of desktop productivity applications like Notion and Milanote has been an absolute game-changer for my workflow. While the original article touches on their utility, I wanted to share a deeper dive into how these act as my ultimate digital workspace, especially when I'm at my clean desk setup with two monitors – the ideal environment for deep work. Let’s talk more about Notion. It’s not just a note-taking app; it's a fully customizable workspace. For content creators and freelancers, this means you can literally build your own operating system. I use Notion extensively for *organizing projects, schedules, and information*. For example, I’ve created a comprehensive content calendar that not only tracks my publishing dates but also houses all my research, draft outlines, and asset links. The integrated calendar feature is invaluable here, allowing me to view deadlines at a glance. Beyond that, I’ve set up dedicated client portals where I can share progress, gather feedback, and store all communication. The level of customizability means I can tailor templates for different client needs, making onboarding and project management seamless. Whether I'm on my desktop or using the *mobile access*, everything stays synced, which is crucial when ideas strike on the go. Its ease of use for personal and professional collaboration also shines when working with editors or virtual assistants; we can all comment and update in real-time. Then there’s Milanote, which truly excels as a *visual workspace*. If you're someone who thinks in images, mood boards, and connected ideas, this app will resonate with you. I specifically use it for *visual moodboarding, researching projects, and ideating*. For a new branding project, for instance, I'll create a Milanote board to collect inspiration: color palettes, typography, competitor examples, and even client feedback excerpts. The browser plug-ins for image saving are a lifesaver – I can instantly clip visuals from any website and drop them onto my board. What makes it unique is its flexibility; you can drag and drop images, text notes, links, and files, arranging them freely like a digital whiteboard with *multiple modules*. It’s perfect for brainstorming video concepts, mapping out social media campaigns, or even just planning a personal home decor project. The collaborative aspect means I can easily share a board with a client or team member, get their input directly on the visuals, and iterate much faster than with traditional text-based feedback. Together, Notion and Milanote form a powerful duo for *desktop productivity*. Notion handles the structured data, task management, and deep documentation, while Milanote nurtures the creative, visual, and exploratory phases of my work. Using them on a desktop allows me to leverage the larger screen real estate, especially with dual monitors, making it easy to reference research in Notion while visually building a concept in Milanote. If you’re looking to streamline your creative process and truly optimize your digital workspace, I highly recommend exploring these two applications. They’ve genuinely helped me boost my efficiency and keep my creative juices flowing!
