aesthetic & productive ways to customize an iphone

Our phones are always at reach and is a very important device in our daily routine. Since it's a big part of our lives, making it aesthetic and even more convenient to use and get more out of your phone.

01. Action Button

Being able to load an application directly from the action button is super convenient, especially when you're out and about on a rush.

02. Focus Mode

I have all of these specific modes set for certain times of the day to ensure that I don't get distracted by notifications from applications or messages from people I can reply to later.

03. Customization

Premade icons and customized fonts brings a lot of joys utilizing my phone. I recommend icons from yanpans and kellyfleur_ from Twitter.

... Read moreBeyond customizing your phone's look for productivity, I've also found immense joy in using my iPhone's powerful camera to capture aesthetic close-up shots! It's incredible what these devices can do, especially newer models like my iPhone 15 Pro Max. If you're looking to elevate your mobile photography, especially for those beautiful, detailed close-ups, here are some of my go-to tips: 1. Master Portrait Mode (even for objects!): While often used for people, Portrait Mode is fantastic for isolating a subject in a close-up. It creates that lovely blurred background, or 'bokeh,' making your subject pop. I often use it for flowers, food, or tiny textures. Just tap on your subject to ensure sharp focus, and play with the f-stop slider to adjust the depth of field. It makes a huge difference in achieving that professional, aesthetic look. 2. Get Closer & Use Macro Mode (iPhone 13 Pro and newer): For truly stunning close-ups, physically getting closer to your subject is key. If you have an iPhone 13 Pro, 14 Pro, or 15 Pro Max, you're in luck with Macro photography. My iPhone 15 Pro Max automatically switches to Macro when I get very close, allowing me to capture incredible detail on tiny objects like dewdrops on a leaf or intricate patterns on fabric. If your iPhone doesn't have auto-macro, you can still get close and crop later, or use external macro lenses. 3. Lighting is Everything: Natural, soft light is your best friend for aesthetic close-ups. I always try to shoot near a window, avoiding harsh direct sunlight which can create strong shadows. Overcast days are perfect. If natural light isn't an option, a small LED light or even a desk lamp with a diffuser can work wonders. Pay attention to how the light falls on your subject to highlight its best features. 4. Composition Matters: Rule of Thirds & Leading Lines: Even in close-ups, basic composition rules elevate your photos. Try placing your subject off-center using the Rule of Thirds grid (you can enable it in your iPhone camera settings). Look for leading lines or interesting textures that draw the eye towards your main subject. A simple close-up of a coffee cup can become art with thoughtful composition. 5. Edit for That Aesthetic Vibe: The magic doesn't stop after clicking the shutter. I love using my iPhone's built-in Photos app or third-party apps like VSCO or Lightroom Mobile for quick edits. Adjusting brightness, contrast, shadows, and highlights can bring out details. Experiment with warmth and tint to set the mood. A slight vignette or grain can add a beautiful, artistic touch to your aesthetic close-up. Remember, less is often more – subtle enhancements can make a big impact on your final image! By combining these photography tips with your customized iPhone setup, you'll not only have a productive and beautiful device but also the skills to capture stunning aesthetic close-up photos that truly stand out.
