Smash Burgers

Cooking saved me when life felt impossible.

A few years ago, I was completely lost. I felt stuck, my spark was gone, and I was just going through the motions. The only place I felt in control, the only place I could create happiness from nothing, was in the kitchen.

Making something from scratch was therapy. Tasting a meal and knowing I built that flavor? That was power. 💪

Cooking has pulled me through my hardest times. It taught me patience, creativity, and that I could build something beautiful, even when other parts of my life felt like they were falling apart.

I started Zelis Cooks to share that exact feeling with you.

Ingredients:

- 1 lb ground beef

- Onion powder

- Yellow mustard

- Sliced onions

- Burger Buns

- Cheese

- Burger sauce or make it yourself:

- 1/2 cup ketchup

- 1/4 cup mayo

- 1/8 cup mustard

- 2 TBSP sweet relish

Directions:

1. Form the ground beef into 3oz balls

2. Lay out a pile of sliced onions on the griddle.

3. Smash a ground beef ball flat directly into the onions.

4. Brush the top of the patty with yellow mustard and season with onion powder.

5. Flip the burger once a crust has formed.

6. Place the burger buns face-down on the griddle to toast until golden.

7. Once the burgers are cooked to your liking, build them with cheese and the burger sauce.

8. Enjoy!
