Why do adopted kids have to earn love?
Finding out I was adopted last year hit me like a ton of bricks, all the little snubs and quiet favoritism made total sense. My parents tried for years to have kids, but they couldn’t, then adopted me… My mom got pregnant right after. Now my two siblings are the golden children, spoiled rotten and treated like royalty, while I’m just there.
I’ve spent my whole life bending over backward to be perfect, I always helping out around the house but it’s never enough. They swear they don’t play favorites, but I started cutting a few months ago, and my mom sighing: “Guess we have to sign you up for therapy now” like it was such a hassle. And the therapist? She just said: “Be grateful, you could’ve ended up in a way worse place” and that their “willingness” to get me therapy proves they care.
