My Favorite ‘On a Budget’ Travel Spots

Over the last few years, I’ve made it a point to travel to at least 2 new places a year if time and money permits. Here are a few of my faves:

✈️- Cannon Beach, Oregon

Cannon Beach is where they filmed the Goonies, and more recently where my favorite rapper NF filmed the music video for his song Hope. It’s in a small beach town about 45 minutes outside of Portland. It’s a nice break from the city, the town is quaint and quiet and the views are beautiful.

✈️- Chattanooga, Tennessee

I visited some friends in Chattanooga while doing a solo road trip and the town is so cool. Half of it is in EST and the other is in CST which is a bit strange but it’s walkable, has a ton of locally owned shops and restaurants and it’s surrounded by beautiful scenery- rivers and mountains.

✈️- Boston, Massachusetts

I love Boston and have been there a handful of times. The food scene is great, the weather in the spring and fall is perfect and it’s also where they filmed my favorite movie, Good Will Hunting. Salem is about 35 min outside of Boston for a fun day trip in October too!

✈️- Washington, D.C.

Okay I’m biased here bc I didn’t actually travel here, I live right here. But DC is probably one of my favorite cities in the country. There’s always something going on- rallies or marches, all the museums are free and the downtown is beautiful

✈️- New Orleans, Louisiana

I have yet to find a city I can compare to New Orleans. It was one of the coolest places I’ve visited in the US so far in terms of it being the most walkable city I’ve been to, the most lively city and the strangest city vibe wise. The food was phenomenal, they have an amazing WWII museum and you can drink openly in the street???

✈️- Montreal, Quebec

I wanted to take a quick “international” trip so Canada it was. Montreal gave the feel of actually being in a different country, with different stores, food chains and language. This city is also relatively walkable and the architecture is incredible

✈️- Portland, Maine

It rained everyday I was here except the last day but it didn’t keep me from brewery hopping which is what Portland is perfect for. Also, lobsters and lobster rolls. Can’t get better than fresh seafood

✈️-Denver, Colorado

Once my east coast self got used to the altitude sickness, I was having a blast in Denver. The city itself is definitely not walkable but you need a car if you wanna go hiking in the surrounding mountains. The snowcapped mountains were beautiful and there was so much to do.

✈️- Asheville, North Carolina

This was one of my most relaxing vacations. The downtown is small and quaint with loads of restaurants and shops. There are over 80 breweries and the food scene is really diverse… really you can find every type of cuisine imaginable in this town. The surrounding mountains are gorgeous and this made for the perfect recharge trip.
