My non-negotiables during this time involve consistent prayer, diving into the Bible, and worship through music or reading aloud. These practices truly strengthen your spiritual muscles and help you feel closer to the Holy Spirit. If you're wondering how to properly fast for God, remember it's as much about spiritual nourishment as physical abstinence. Why do we fast and pray? For me, it's about seeking breakthrough and growing closer to God. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline that helps break strongholds in your life. During these times, I focus my prayers on confessing sins, asking for wisdom, and praying against temptation. It also opens up a deeper insight into God's word, and I've found myself praying for a change in perspective and alignment with His will. The spiritual benefits, especially on day 3, can be profound, leading to a deeper understanding of His work in our lives. There are various types of fasting for Christians, but the core is always about drawing nearer to Him. A crucial part of any fast is knowing how to break it safely. You don't want to shock your system! I've learned to start with liquids like fruit juice or smoothies. On day one, light foods such as yogurt or eggs are perfect. This gentle reintroduction prevents discomfort and helps your body adjust. Many wonder 'when does fasting end?' and 'what time can I break my fast?'. Typically, you follow the duration you set, and then ease back into eating carefully, listening to your body. It's normal to experience some fasting fatigue symptoms, especially if you're new to it. Don't be discouraged! It gets easier as you do it more often – you do get used to fasting. Remember, 'some things can only be done through prayer and fasting.'
