What they don't tell you about pregnancy

So some of the things I have learned during my pregnancy is crazy for example

Pregnancy is not 9 months but is 10 months they seriously should update that Info lol

People were trying to make the Group B strep test sound so scary but it wasn't and people made my anxiety spike for nothing

The gestational diabetes test is torture if you fail the first time! I had failed my first test so they made me come back in for a 4-hour long test as someone with anemia I had to fast for 12 hours prior and then get my blood taken once an hour for my entire appointment and by the end of it I thought I was legit gonna die!

False positive STD tests can happen! So a few weeks ago I found out that because of hormones changing and whatnot sometimes you can get a false positive Syphilis test which surprised and scared me because my doctor didn't start off with it was a false positive when they brought the conversation up

When the baby goes head down it hurts! My baby has been head down for almost 8 weeks now and it is torture I thought the term lightning crotch was an offensive term similar to fire crotch for Redheads but instead for blondes nope it's a term for pregnant women during this time! I don't know how to explain the pain

If you plan to breastfeed you end up finding out there are 3 stages of breastmilk and also 3 stages of newborn bowels that are caused by drinking breast milk

Also, last and finally bacterial problems are more common while pregnant I know a lot of women don't wanna talk about this cause it's embarrassing, and I don't even want to but I wanna break stigma especially cause during pregnancy your PH is unbalanced so it can cause this sometimes but it's curable with a 7 day supply of a medication that you take twice a day

That's really all I could think of! I would love to hear more about what other moms experienced during their pregnancies! I'm a first-time mom

... Read morePregnancy is often viewed through a glorified lens, but the realities can be challenging and unexpected. One colossal misconception is that pregnancy lasts only nine months; in truth, it encompasses about ten months. During this period, expectant mothers may confront various tests that can seem intimidating, like the Group B Streptococcus test, which many describe as overly dramatized, leading to unnecessary anxiety. Another common hurdle is the gestational diabetes test. For those who don’t pass the initial screening, the second round can feel grueling, especially when fasting is involved and tests extend over four hours. It's essential for mothers-to-be to understand these processes and that they are not alone in feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, hormonal fluctuations can lead to false positive STD tests during pregnancy, adding to the stress and emotional rollercoaster. It’s vital for healthcare providers to communicate clearly to prevent misunderstanding and panic. Physical discomfort is also part of the journey; as the baby moves into position, many women experience what has been colloquially termed ‘lightning crotch,’ a sharp pain that is both shocking and intense. This type of discomfort can come as a surprise, emphasizing the importance of open discussions among mothers. Breastfeeding brings its own layer of complexity, with three stages of breastmilk to navigate, which can affect your newborn's digestive adaptation. Moreover, pregnant women may sometimes experience bacterial infections due to the hormonal changes affecting their pH levels, a topic often shrouded in stigma. Being informed about these realities fosters a supportive community amongst expecting mothers, encouraging conversations that destigmatize these experiences and ensure women feel less isolated during their pregnancy.
