“Birds were often found dєǟԃ in Falls Peak.

A phenomenon no one could quite understand.

It wasn’t a rare occurrence to find a pile of muddied feathers and twig-like bones about the town’s edges.

In my earlier years, midnights were mostly spent under quilts beside lamp light, reading stories of these winged harbingers of doom with the hollow bones, stealing souls from those who were dying and carrying them up into the next world. Passengers, some would call the birds.

For this reason, I always believed that for the immortals, each time we died, our returning souls is what caused them to fall from the sky.

Except the raven I stood over on my fifth birthday wasn’t dєǟԃ.

ʟɪꜰᴇ ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ:

A funky flu possessed me, and I’ve not been feeling like myself this week. It’s led me to sleep non-stop, Tylenol-text people, and miss important dates—like a special Instagram LIVE I was supposed to host and special gifts I wanted to give out through posts. I am so sorry I wasn’t here, but good news is, I’m feeling better and I still have a basket full of goodies for next week for you.

For Halloween, my husband and I stayed home, turned off the porch lights, ate a bowl of candy (that should’ve been for the neighborhood kids), drank warm apple cider, and watched IT in our pajamas. Despite the cold, the night was perfect.

Happy November, new friends.
