DEVOURER OF MEN BY NIKKI ST CROWE

This was my first book by Nikki St Crowe, and I definitely was not disappointed! It told me to jump and I immediately said how far. And Roc told me EXACTLY how far!

UM THAT SCENE?!?!? (Iykyk)

UM THAT ENDING?!?! EXCUSE ME????

Anyways, lets get into it!

Lets just start with the characters.

𝐑𝐎𝐂. 𝐑𝐎𝐂. 𝐑𝐎𝐂. 𝐑𝐎𝐂. 10/10!

OMG. What a damn FLIRT! Made me blush my socks off!!! Confident, slightly arrogant, and 100% delicious, he was the definition of “enticing”. Give me more PLZ!

Dominating in all the right ways, Roc truly carried the book. 😝😍🥵

“Six words. More. Harder. Stop. Slower. God. Fuck.”

𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐊. 2/10.

Well…what I expected and what I got didn’t quite line up. Instead of a ruthless pirate who ruled with an iron fist, we got a whiny tagalong that didn’t really make me say yes or no… just overall he was unappealing to me. 🙄🥲

𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐘. 5/10.

Then comes Wendy. Where do I even begin with her? 😅 Oh dear.. she needed some…work.

𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖.

This book gets a 4/5 for me, ONLY because of Hook. Ugh. His whiny little ass was honestly kinda annoying. ROC THOUGH?! Carried the entire book and then some. Im not even gonna give credits to Wendy cuz wtf was all that? 😩

Spice: 5/5 - m/m/f, mostly m/m, which was hawtttt.

Plot: 4/5!

Characters: 4/5

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my initial thoughts on DEVOURER OF MEN, but let's dive a little deeper, shall we? This book isn't just a simple romance; it truly plunges you into a world that feels both fantastical and dangerously real. From the moment I started, I was captivated by the unique blend of dark fantasy and pirate themes hinted at even on the cover with those rocky coasts and ships. It's not your typical swashbuckling adventure; it has this gritty, almost primal edge that really sets it apart. The imagery of daggers and crowns in the OCR really resonates with the power struggles and intense stakes within the story. It truly builds a dark, immersive atmosphere that will hook you from page one. Nikki St. Crowe absolutely masterfully weaves this narrative. As my first read by her, I was seriously impressed with how she handles morally gray characters and pushes boundaries. If you're new to her work, be prepared for an author who doesn't shy away from intense emotions and situations. She crafts a world where loyalty is tested, and desires run wild, making it a perfect fit for anyone craving a truly dark romance. The 'Devourer Series' queries make total sense because once you finish this, you'll be desperate for more of this universe! She's definitely an author whose style I'm eager to explore further. Let's talk more about Roc, because honestly, he's unforgettable. The OCR mentioned him with tattoos and a lit cigarette – that's the vibe! He’s not just confident; he's got this magnetic, almost predatory charm that just radiates off the pages. His dominance isn't just physical, it's intellectual and emotional, making him a complex character you can't help but be drawn to. He truly embodies the essence of a dark romance hero, challenging your perceptions and keeping you on the edge of your seat. And the spice? Oh boy, the 5/5 rating is well-deserved, especially with the m/m/f elements. It’s raw, it’s intense, and it perfectly complements the dark atmosphere of the story, serving the plot rather than just being gratuitous. Now, about Hook. While I gave him a 2/10, it's not to say he's irrelevant. He plays a crucial role in highlighting the stark contrast with Roc. The OCR image of him with a silver hook and red coat really paints a picture of a character who could have been formidable. Perhaps his whininess is part of the story's design, to make Roc shine even brighter, or to serve as a foil to the stronger personalities. And Wendy, bless her heart, felt a bit lost in the chaos, though I appreciated her journey in the context of Roc and Hook's dynamic. Her development, though slower, is integral to the overall narrative arc. For anyone wondering if this book is for them, consider this: Do you enjoy morally ambiguous characters? Are you looking for a romance that’s more gritty and less fairy tale? Do you appreciate high-heat scenes that are integral to the plot? If you answered yes, then 'Devourer of Men' is definitely one to add to your TBR list. It’s a compelling start to what I imagine is an incredible series, and I'm already counting down the days until I can dive back into Nikki St. Crowe's world. This book truly left an impression, and I can't recommend it enough for dark romance enthusiasts looking for something bold and unforgettable!
