About two years ago I started losing a ton of hair due to stress - it was coming out in clumps nearly everytime I brushed / washed my hair. I’ve tried all the shampoos, the treatments, the works trying to get my hair to what it is now. I currently use rosemary oil & rosemary water in addition to my shampoo and conditioner and mask that I’ve been using religiously and switching from high end to drugstore really made the fallout minimal. My hair was doing so good and has really started growing thanks to the rosemary routine.
Here’s the issue: ever since it got really cold my hair has had horrendous split ends and some strands of hair feel coarse and almost fried, but it’s just random hairs. I don’t heat style often, just blow dry when I get out of the shower, occasionally will do blowout curls with my Dyson but even at that it’s mostly on the ends not the whole hair.
I’ve tried bond repair since I did dye my hair back in August and touched up my roots back in October, and honestly I didn’t notice any difference. I’m not really seeing breakage or anything either so I’m just stumped as to what could be causing these issues. Is it heat damage, could it be thyroid issues, am I just going through hair texture changes?

... Read moreDealing with hair issues can be frustrating, especially when factors like stress and cold weather affect your hair's health. Rosemary oil and water have shown benefits for hair growth and minimizing fallout, making them excellent choices for a nourishing routine. However, split ends and dry strands can still occur despite your best efforts. Here are some expert tips to consider:
1. **Trim Regularly**: Split ends can lead to further breakage if not addressed. Regular trims every 6-8 weeks can help maintain the overall health of your hair.
2. **Hydrate and Moisturize**: Incorporate deep conditioning treatments into your routine to restore moisture. Look for products rich in natural oils or butters that can help hydrate coarse strands.
3. **Avoid Harsh Chemicals**: If you dye your hair, consider using color-safe shampoos and conditioners to prevent further drying. Avoid products with sulfates, which can strip hair of its natural oils.
4. **Protect from Heat**: Even minimal blow-drying can cause damage, so use a heat protectant spray if you decide to use heat styling tools.
5. **Healthy Diet**: Ensure you're consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, particularly biotin, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and E, which promote healthy hair growth.
6. **Consult a Professional**: If concerns persist, it may be worth speaking with a dermatologist or trichologist to rule out underlying issues, such as thyroid problems or other health conditions impacting hair quality.
