How I healed my onycholysis 🌸

1. Stop using gel, acrylics, dip, etc. Give your nails a break for 3 months or so depending on the severity.

2. File your nails once or twice a week they say not to but it has helped me so everyone is different

3. Be patient this may take 6 months more or less

4. Use the treatment in the last slide once a day, 2x a day if it’s more severe, it helped me sm faster!

... Read moreSeeing your nails lift from the nail bed can be really alarming, especially if you love getting your nails done. I know the frustration of looking at my nails and wondering if they'd ever look normal again after noticing that dreaded separation. This condition, known as onycholysis, often sneaks up on us, and for many, myself included, it becomes a concerning side effect of our favorite nail enhancements like gel nails or acrylics. It's so common for onycholysis to appear after gel nails or an acrylic manicure. The chemicals, the harsh filing, and even the trauma of removing them can weaken the nail plate and the delicate connection to the nail bed. Sometimes, it's just the constant pressure or moisture trapped underneath. Recognizing this was my first step in understanding and tackling the problem. While gel nails offer convenience and beauty, understanding their potential impact is crucial for prevention and effective healing onycholysis. Healing onycholysis isn't an overnight fix; it's a marathon, not a sprint. I truly understand the struggle with patience! Initially, you might see the lifting spread a little before new, healthy nail growth starts pushing it out. This is where patience really comes in. The nail grows slowly, so you’re looking at several months – often 3 to 6 months, sometimes even longer depending on the severity and how quickly your nails grow naturally. My own experience definitely involved phases of 'is it getting better?' before I saw real progress in my onycholysis healing stages. Don't get discouraged if the healing feels slow; consistency is key. While onycholysis after gel nails was my primary concern, it's worth knowing other factors can contribute. Things like trauma to the nail, certain medications, skin conditions, or even underlying health issues like hypothyroidism can also play a role. It’s always good to be aware and consult a professional if you suspect something deeper. For me, focusing on breaking the cycle of damage was paramount. Beyond pausing salon treatments and gentle filing, I discovered a few extra steps that truly accelerated my onycholysis healing journey. Keeping my nails short was non-negotiable – it prevented further snagging and trauma. I also embraced cuticle care, using a nourishing oil daily to promote overall nail health. And yes, that specific NAIL REPAIR SPRAY I mentioned, the VigorWell Medinail product, became a daily ritual. I faithfully applied it, sometimes twice a day, focusing on the area where the nail had lifted. It felt like it created a protective barrier and helped encourage reattachment. The visual progress captured in my journey really highlights the transformation I experienced with consistent use of such specialized treatments. Remember, your nails reflect your health and consistency. It’s a journey of self-care and giving your body what it needs to repair. Don't lose hope if you're battling gel nail damage onycholysis. With the right approach and a lot of patience, you absolutely can heal your nails back to their strong, beautiful state!
