Founders’ Day

As we celebrate Founders' Day, my heart is full reflecting on what it truly means to be a Zeta Phi Beta woman, a 'So Sweet' Soror. It's more than just a tagline; it's a feeling of deep sisterhood, unwavering support, and shared values that have bound us together since our founding in 1920. Every year on January 16th, we pause to honor our five visionary founders who, with courage and determination, established a legacy of scholarship, service, sisterly love, and Finer Womanhood. For me, being 'So Sweet' isn't just about being kind or pleasant; it's about the genuine warmth and profound compassion we extend to one another. It’s the active demonstration of love in action – uplifting our sisters, celebrating their every success, and standing by them steadfastly through every challenge life throws our way. It's in the late-night calls offering comfort, the encouraging texts before a big exam, and the shared laughter that fills our gatherings, creating memories we cherish for a lifetime. This profound bond is what truly makes our sisterhood so special and enduring, a constant source of strength and inspiration. Founders' Day is a time for both heartfelt celebration and thoughtful reflection. We vividly remember the foundational principles upon which Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was meticulously built and recommit ourselves to living those noble ideals every single day. It's incredibly inspiring to think about how our sisterhood has grown from humble beginnings at Howard University to become a global organization, impacting countless communities worldwide. The very spirit of those founding moments, of pioneering women striving for academic excellence and social action, continues to powerfully fuel our collective purpose and drive us forward. I often find myself immersing in old photos, yellowed with time, or captivated by stories shared from our older, wiser sorors, and it truly brings to life the rich, vibrant history we are so proudly a part of. The journey of Zeta Phi Beta is a testament to resilience, unwavering dedication to our communities, and an unbreakable bond to each other. It serves as a powerful reminder that our collective strength, when united, can indeed create profound and lasting change in the world. What makes our 'So Sweet' sisterhood so uniquely special is the active participation and boundless love poured into our individual chapters and national programs.
