Day 3 🫶🏻 I think I get really nervous when I feel like I’m starting to ramble, but realizing that not every video / piece of content needs to have valuable info is okay. I think that’s the disconnect I have with my audience sometimes. I also notice I talk a lot under my breath and with my hands, maybe I get uncomfortable with the idea of someone staring at me for so long so I want to distract them with my hands. Embarking on a journey to improve public speaking can be both intimidating and enlightening. One common experience many speakers encounter, especially when recording videos or speaking live, is the feeling of nervousness triggered by the fear of rambling or losing audience engagement. This challenge grows when speaking continuously without cuts or edits, as it forces greater authenticity and presence. It's important to acknowledge that not every moment in a public speaking piece must contain ground-breaking information. Sometimes, simply sharing thoughts candidly helps build a genuine connection with your audience. This approach helps reduce the pressure to deliver flawless content and allows spontaneity to shine through. Moreover, behavioral cues, such as nervous whispers or fidgeting hands, often become unconscious tools to cope with discomfort. Recognizing these habits opens the door to self-awareness and gradual improvement. For instance, gestures used to distract oneself might instead be redirected to reinforce key messages and express enthusiasm. In practice, embracing imperfections, like occasional rambling, fosters a relatable and humanized speaking style. The #100daychallenge method of daily practice, as highlighted in the original content, is an effective way to build confidence progressively. Additionally, implementing simple techniques such as mindful breathing, pausing to gather thoughts, and visualizing a friendly audience can ease anxieties. Maintaining a relaxed posture and moderate eye contact supports a natural delivery without overwhelming the speaker. Finally, engaging with community discussions around #publicspeaking and #publicspeakingtips provides valuable encouragement and insights.
