Everything I ate in San Diego

If you’re headed to San Diego I got some of the best places that are budget friendly for two people to!

Cafe moto: a little pricey for coffee but great coffee with food. Parking is easy to and the inside of the cafe is super adorable.

Little Sam’s pizza: GO HERE BEST PRICED ITALIAN FOOD fed me and my partner who has a black hole for a stomach with $30-$20

In n out: obviously had to go to in n out at least once a week. We got the grilled cheese and super cheap!

Tajima Ramen Convoy: The best vegan ramen I’ve ever had!! And cheap!! They have good sales to and the matcha was 10/10

California burrito: you can get a vegetarian California burrito here and it’s also cheap!

Plant powered fast food: 100% vegetarian but was expensive. Only recommended if you have the money. It was super good though!

Which of these would you eat? And if your local drop some vegetarian restaurants you like to! I plan on going to San Diego again so I could use the recommendations! 👀

... Read moreFinding delicious and affordable food, especially with vegetarian options, can sometimes feel like a treasure hunt in a vibrant city like San Diego. But trust me, it’s absolutely doable! Based on my recent trip, I've gathered some additional insights and tips that I wish I knew before, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy San Diego's culinary scene without emptying their wallet. One of the biggest takeaways for cheap eats in San Diego is to embrace the local favorites and fast-casual spots. Places like Little Sam's Pizza, for example, aren't just about good food; they're about incredible value. I learned that a smart move is to look for family-style portions or combo deals. Little Sam's "cheap Italian food" fed two of us generously for a price that felt like a steal. Don't overlook the classic vegetarian choices like a simple Margarita Pizza – often a budget-friendly and satisfying meal! When it comes to quick and easy, you can't beat the institutions. In-N-Out Burger is a prime example. While some might think of it purely for meat, their grilled cheese is a fantastic, cheap vegetarian option. You can even ask for Animal Fries without the meat, making for a hearty side. It’s all about knowing how to customize your order to fit your dietary needs and budget. My exploration also led me to discover the richness of ethnic cuisines for affordable vegetarian meals. Tajima Ramen Convoy was a revelation – truly the "best vegan ramen" I've ever had, and the prices were very reasonable. The Convoy district, in general, is a goldmine for diverse and budget-friendly Asian eats. Similarly, San Diego's Mexican food scene offers incredible value. The California Burrito, especially with a vegetarian filling like beans or veggies, is a staple. I even managed to find a tasty California burrito combo #3 that was both filling and cheap. Always ask for vegetarian options; many places are happy to accommodate. Coffee shops can also be surprisingly good for cheap eats beyond just coffee. Cafe Moto, with its "cute coffee shop" vibe, wasn't just for a caffeine fix. Many local cafes offer affordable breakfast burritos, pastries, or light lunch options that can save you money compared to a full restaurant meal. It's about being strategic with your meal choices throughout the day. For those dedicated to plant-based dining, places like Plant Powered Fast Food are incredible, offering creative options like a "vegetarian big mac" or "vegetarian carne asada fries." While the original article mentioned it can be a bit pricier, it's worth considering for a splurge if you want innovative, 100% vegetarian fare. It shows that being "AS A VEGETARIAN" in San Diego doesn't mean sacrificing flavor or variety. Finally, don't be afraid to do a little research before you go out. Apps like Yelp or Google Maps often have filters for "vegetarian" or "cheap eats," and reading reviews can give you a better sense of portion sizes and actual prices. Look for daily specials or happy hour deals, which can drastically cut down your food expenses. San Diego has so much to offer for every palate and budget; with a little planning, you can taste it all!
