Part 1. Turkey sub with turkey bacon and sweet potato fries

Air fry version
I recently tried making a turkey sub with turkey bacon and sweet potato fries using my air fryer, and it turned out fantastic. One great aspect I discovered was the use of uncured, hickory-smoked turkey bacon made from turkey leg meat, free from nitrates and nitrites, ensuring a healthier option compared to conventional bacon. Brands like Applegate offer turkey bacon with no artificial ingredients and raised under humane conditions, which gives more peace of mind when preparing meals. Preparing sweet potato fries in an air fryer is a game changer—they become wonderfully crispy without the need for excessive oil, making the meal lighter but still satisfying. I simply peeled and cut the sweet potatoes into fry shapes, lightly sprayed them with non-stick butter-flavored cooking spray, and seasoned with a dash of salt and seasoning like Sazón Completa or my favorite spice blends. For the turkey sub, layering the turkey bacon with fresh vegetables and your choice of condiments enhances both texture and flavor, balancing the smoky savory bacon with the natural sweetness of the fries. Cooking times are straightforward: preheat the air fryer, then cook the turkey bacon until crisp and golden, usually about 5 to 7 minutes, and the sweet potato fries take around 15 to 20 minutes, tossed halfway through. Overall, this air fryer method is perfect for busy days when you want something tasty and wholesome. I highly recommend trying a similar approach with nitrate-free turkey bacon paired with sweet potato fries for a delightful and guilt-free meal.
