Sometimes, I wish I could sit beside the younger me and tell her:

“We made it.”

The girl who once felt anxious in public spaces.

Who struggled to speak to people.

Who hid from crowds because she never felt confident enough.

Today, you are a mum of three.

You still have fears but fear no longer controls you.

You became the person you once needed.

You didn’t have to become fearless to become strong. ❤️

Thank you, younger me, for continuing and thank you to every person I crossed paths with who taught me something valuable about facing fear.

... Read moreLooking back, I truly resonate with the experience of feeling anxious and unsure in public spaces. I've also faced moments where speaking to others felt daunting, and crowds seemed overwhelming. What’s inspiring is realizing that strength doesn’t come from erasing fear; it comes from acknowledging it and moving forward anyway. In my own journey, becoming a parent changed everything. Suddenly, the stakes felt higher—not just for myself but for my children. I learned that fear can be a teacher rather than a barrier. Facing it gradually helped me grow more confident and resilient, much like the feeling that the younger self would be proud to see how far I’ve come. The phrase “you look happier now” resonates deeply. Happiness isn’t the absence of fear or struggle but rather the presence of acceptance and courage. Life is indeed short, and embracing each moment with its imperfections has made the journey truly meaningful. For anyone reading who struggles with anxiety or self-doubt, know this: strength isn’t about being fearless. It’s about becoming the person you once needed, through persistence, patience, and self-compassion. The path includes setbacks and lessons, but each step leads to growth. Sharing this with others, especially fellow mums and people overcoming similar challenges, creates a community of support and understanding. Ultimately, reflecting on these moments has helped me appreciate the small victories—the courage to keep going, to connect despite fear, and to live authentically. Your younger self would indeed be proud that you made it, not by becoming flawless but by becoming strong enough to embrace your true self.

I almost lost my dream relationship without even realising it.
And the scary part? It wasn’t because I didn’t love her. It was because I thought being physically there was enough. Back then, there were moments where I’d be on my phone, playing games, distracted by work, or thinking about a hundred other things… while she was sitting right beside me

Alex G. Lim - Beside you Pre Music video shoot
✨ IG: alexg.lim (56k) W: alexglim.com #guitar #artist #music
