What does MACD mean on a stock chart?
I’ve point out two examples in the second pic.
The stock in the picture is SPY.
Red doodles: Notice how the candles are going upwards and meanwhile, the MACD (blue line) is crossing up over the signal (red line).
Blue doodles: Now for the opposite, notice the candles are trending downwards, and the MACD is crossing down over the signal line.
In both instances, the point where the intersect is where the candles pivot upwards or downwards.
This is not the ultimate one size fits all answer to entering trades, but it does give you confirmation and give you context and a guide for where the price is headed.
