my thoughts on nursing school one month in🥲

the rumors are true. nursing school is not for the weak! today marks one month since i started nursing school and it’s definitely been a journey to say the least. because im in an accelerated masters program, my schedule is very hectic and the standards for passing grades are very high which can be intimidating. i would be lying if i said i haven’t cried a couple times out of frustration and pure fear lol. nursing school is so much different from any other professional school or even undergrad. and even a month in, im still adjusting and trying to find my groove.

on the other hand, ive done and learned so many cool things like health assessment, medication administration, foleys, vitals, etc. and i started clinical last week which has been very fascinating (i’ll make a separate post about this). despite the crazy adjustments ive had to make as a student, i am so confident that i’ll succeed and im motivated to achieve that success. the journey definitely hasn’t been easy but i know it’ll be worth it in the end💌

(ps. now that im somewhat adjusted to my schedule, i will return to posting consistently. i wanted to give myself some time to get used to school and prioritize my studies!)

... Read moreAs I embark on this nursing school journey, it's evident that the experience is both challenging and rewarding. Nursing school isn't just about passing exams; it prepares you for a career that makes a significant impact on people's lives. The curriculum is fast-paced and extensive, covering health assessment, clinical skills, and therapeutic communication. Throughout the first month, I realized the importance of time management and self-care. Maintaining a balance between study and personal life is crucial for mental well-being. Joining study groups and connecting with fellow students fosters a supportive environment, which is vital during stressful times. Moreover, the clinical placements offer invaluable hands-on experience, bridging the gap between theory and practice. Experiencing real patient care allows us to apply what we've learned, enhancing our confidence and competence. It's important to remember that setbacks are part of the learning process. Each obstacle faced serves as a stepping stone towards professional growth. Embracing this journey with an open mind and heart will ultimately lead to a successful nursing career. Emphasizing resilience and perseverance will help navigate the hurdles that come our way. For anyone considering nursing school, be prepared for hard work and dedication, but also rest assured that the rewards on the other side are immense. The support from peers and mentors can make a world of difference. Stay motivated, and remember your passion for helping others drives this noble calling.

Girl you got this! The first semester is one of the hardest imo! And it’s okay to have a few good cries in between, but it’ll be worth it!
