Part 2: Complete

Oh boy, this book is so good but I can’t just binge it. Fully support the people who can! It’s about war and it’s covering heavy topics, so sometimes I also need to read something happy while covering this book.

Spoilers ahead:

Rin, while older now, is still young adult and sometimes responds in ways that show her age, which I’m okay with. The Cike are essentially made up of older teenagers and younger adults. They’re dealing with war. Watching their friends die in horrific way. Then having to deal with the different gods is another level to add onto the shoulders of these characters. No wonder Rin wants to clench her fist and stand her ground in inappropriate times, I probably would too.

We also see more of Altan, who really is in over his head. Watching the high stakes of command bring out his anger showcased the skill set and power that Speer had and makes their genocide that much sadder.

Then all the politics that can be seen happening - it’s a marvel anything can get done. People vying for power, command, getting the final say. It’s all so interesting to watch unfold.
