Wasn’t for me, three star read

⭐️Overall rating: 3/5

👍Pros: This is a short book with less than 200 pages. The stories and poems are all about one to two pages. Overall, the writing itself was well done and the artwork was pretty. Loved the start and the ending.

👎: Honestly, the middle dragged on. I started this book last week thinking I could finish it because there wasn’t many pages and I generally love poetry. This just wasn’t for me. I ended up putting the book down and picked it up a few days ago to finish it.

... Read moreIf you're an avid poetry lover, you might find yourself exploring the heights and depths of various poetry collections, like those from Nikita Gill and other contemporary poets. While some poetry excels in its brevity and emotional impact, others may struggle with pacing and engagement, resulting in mixed reviews. In this piece, I reflect on my experience with a particular collection that, despite its beautiful artwork and well-crafted words, had a middle section that dragged on, creating a disconnect. Poets often tell stories in a unique way, aiming to resonate with readers on multiple levels. Themes of empowerment and strength can be seen in poems that explore the roles of both kings and queens, emphasizing collaboration in building narratives. As I delve deeper into poetry's evolving forms and themes, I recognize the importance of finding personal resonance within the works. Sometimes, a poem strikes a chord, while at other times it may not reach its intended audience. In addition, the poetry scene is enriched by its community of readers and writers who engage in discussions on platforms like Lemon8. As readers, it's vital to share our honest feedback, appreciating the efforts of poets while acknowledging when a collection may not align with our tastes. My review aims to provide an authentic perspective on a poetry collection that, though it may have captivated some, did not work for me.

Okay, let's get real. We've ALL been there. You know, scrolling through book lists, searching for that perfect enemies-to-lovers story to sweep you off your feet. The kind of book that makes you laugh, cry, and maybe even throw it across the room (but only because the tension is SO GOOD)
