I absolutely adored this book! The friends to lovers trope really went hard here and I ate up every second of it. Avery’s journey from an unsure, intelligent woman whose boyfriend dumps her after somewhat proposing to a confident badass healed something in me. And the mmc- a secretly rich photographer who just wants the best for women everywhere- ABSOLUTELY what I needed to read right now. Perfect!
65. Snapshot by Kay Cove
This was a great sequel to Camera shy. I loved learning about Lennox and Dex. They were so fun. I did feel like the book went a little too fast and slow in parts. However, the overall story was amazing and sweet. It showed the type of relationship every girl wants and needs.
66. An Academy for Liars by Keri Lake Alexis Henderson
Ok. I really wanted to like this one. But oh god. The premise was great, the aesthetic was there, but the characters were dull and felt incomplete and nothing felt real. It felt like a blase version of something really cool. The dialogue was too wordy and there was no emotion. The whole dark hogwarts thing was cool but it had so much more potential. I’m sad I didn’t like it more.
67. Lights Out by Navessa Allen
I haven’t loved an audio book like this since Butcher & Blackbird! Allen knocks it out of the park with this one. I’m instantly obsessed with the writing style and the characters. I adored this romance and how spicy yet wholesome the whole thing was. The writing perfect balance and pace! Amazing. Just awesome. I honestly can’t wait for the next one!
... Read moreOkay, so diving deeper into my November reads, I really want to gush a bit more about Kay Cove's 'Camera Shy' and 'Snapshot.' For anyone who loves a good friends-to-lovers story, 'Camera Shy' is an absolute must. What truly resonated with me was Avery's incredible journey in self-love. It wasn't just about finding romance; it was about her transformation into a confident, empowered woman. That kind of character development, where she really comes into her own, honestly just heals my soul. And let's not forget the MMC – a secret billionaire photographer who genuinely champions women. It’s the kind of supportive, swoon-worthy hero we all secretly wish for! This book really taught me how important it is to embrace your true self, perhaps even feeling confident enough to snap that perfect selfie!
Then, 'Snapshot' continues that amazing story, giving us more of Lennox and Dex. Their dynamic totally embodies relationship goals. It's sweet, it's fun, and it really showcases the kind of partnership where both individuals shine. If you're looking for a series that perfectly balances heartwarming romance with characters you can genuinely root for, Kay Cove's duo is right up your alley. They’re definitely a highlight when I think about what makes a relationship truly special.
Beyond Kay Cove, I also explored some other fascinating reads. 'Lights Out' by Navessa Allen was another standout in the romance department. The blend of spicy yet wholesome elements, coupled with a masked mmc and thrilling family secrets, made it an unputdownable audiobook. It had that fantastic stalker & golden-retriever energy that creates such a unique dynamic! It’s thrilling to find books that challenge typical romance tropes while still delivering all the feels.
And for those who enjoy a darker aesthetic, 'An Academy for Liars' promised dark academia vibes and secret societies. While it didn't quite hit the mark for me, the idea of a tattooed professor and a twisty plot is always intriguing. It just goes to show that not every book is for everyone, but the hunt for that perfect read with intricate plots and captivating characters is part of the fun!
Finding these books made my November reading truly memorable. Whether it's a deep dive into self-love, celebrating relationship highlights, or simply getting lost in a thrilling new world, there’s always something new to discover in the literary world. What are your recent relationship highlight reads or authors you're currently obsessed with? I'm always looking for recommendations!
