confidence isn’t a body size !

Life is too long to worry about what our bodies look like. Trends come and go but we can’t allow our bodies to be a part of that. With weight loss meds on the rise and end of the year mottos (new year, new me) I want to encourage you to look past the scale & just take care of yourself the best way you can 🤍

... Read moreIt’s so easy to get caught up in how our bodies 'should' look, isn't it? I remember spending years scrutinizing myself in the mirror, comparing my shape to every trending ideal. It was exhausting, and honestly, it stole so much joy from my life. That’s why I truly believe what the original post says: 'confidence isn’t a body size!' It’s a journey I'm still on, but I want to share some thoughts on why cultivating a positive body image is so incredibly important, and how I'm learning to embrace it. Firstly, why is positive body image important? For me, it boils down to reclaiming my peace and energy. When you're constantly worried about your appearance, you're not truly living. It affects everything – your relationships, your career, and even simple pleasures like going to the beach. A positive body image isn't about loving every single part of yourself every second of the day; it's about accepting your body as your home, treating it with respect, and understanding that its worth isn't tied to fleeting aesthetic standards. It frees up so much mental space to focus on what truly matters. So, what are some body confidence tips that have actually worked for me? Here are a few: Curate your social media feed: Unfollow accounts that make you feel less-than. Follow diverse body types, body positive advocates, and people who genuinely inspire self-love. It sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference. **Focus on what your body does for you: Instead of what it looks like, appreciate its strength, its ability to move, to hug, to experience the world. My body lets me dance, hike, and enjoy delicious food – that's powerful! Dress for your comfort and joy: Forget what's 'flattering' according to old rules. Wear what makes you feel good and confident, regardless of your size. Practice positive self-talk: Challenge those negative thoughts. Would you talk to a friend that way? Probably not. Be your own best friend. Move your body in ways you enjoy: Exercise shouldn't be punishment. Find activities that bring you joy – dancing, walking, yoga – and focus on how they make you feel, not how they change your size. Embracing weight gain** has been a particularly challenging but liberating part of my journey. Society often demonizes weight gain, but bodies change. They fluctuate with age, hormones, stress, and life experiences. Instead of fighting it, I've tried to shift my perspective to one of acceptance. My body has carried me through so much, and sometimes, gaining weight is just a natural part of that journey. It doesn't diminish my worth or my beauty. As the image in the original post boldly declared, "f*ck body trends." Truly, they come and go, but your body is yours forever. Finally, contributing to plus size positivity means celebrating all bodies, especially those that aren't typically glorified in mainstream media. It's about recognizing that beauty comes in every shape and size. As I heard somewhere, and it resonated deeply, "Curvy bodies will forever be chic." This isn't just a trend; it's a timeless truth. Let's lift each other up, remind ourselves that our bodies are incredible, and focus on health and happiness from the inside out, not just the numbers on a scale or the fleeting ideals of others. Your confidence is your superpower, and it absolutely isn't defined by your size.
