Healing is Lonely- no one talks about it

I went through two pretty mind altering relationships from 17-20 and my childhood wasn’t full of too much light either. I was single up until recently, now 22, and I tend to reflect on my time being single.

It took falling on my face for awhile but I soon accepted my yearning to be loved and found the self love I had always wanted. I realized the partners I attracted in my healing era were really just to teach me more about myself.

Why would the universe bring my forever partner if I wasn’t ready for them?

I started retreating more and more inward. More time at work, more time at the gym, more time with friends who cared for me, more time on the things that really mattered.

But all of this was still done alone. No one really having my back or concerned with how late I would be out or where I was going. It was just me for once and at first it was scary because I felt unprotected but then I built a relationship with God and then it became exhilarating and I realized I wouldn’t trade this feeling of loneliness for just anyone. I realized my person that I’d be with would have to let me be this lonely as we spent forever together.

I now have someone else to care about, my new boyfriend, and it now becomes me trying to find the time to become lonely again.

Lonely can be the best thing that ever happened to you.
