Conquering procrastination requires a routine!

Make sure to start with setting realistic goals. It depends on you what sounds realistic to you, but make sure you set goals that do not set you up for burnout. For example, an unrealistic goal would have been to get a 520 MCAT score with only one month of MCAT studying, there is no way you can achieve that without burnout!

The 5-minute rule helps you to get started on a task. The main thing about procrastination is getting started on a task, because 90% of the times, when you get started, eventually you will get it done! Concentrate on a task for even atleast 5 minutes and then go from there.

The pomodoro technique involves you to work in 25 minute intervals with short timed breaks!

Temptation bundling has to do with combining a task you NEED to do with a task you WANT to do! For example, if I get thru 100 Anki cards, then I will spare 20mins to scroll on tiktok

The “Eat the Frog Technique” involves starting with the hardest task in the morning so that you can get it out of the way!

Incorporating small changes into your study routine can make a huge difference!

... Read moreProcrastination can often feel overwhelming, but with the right techniques and mindset, it can be effectively managed. Incorporating methods like the 5-minute rule helps in breaking tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. You start by committing just five minutes, and you might find that once you begin, it’s easier to continue. The Pomodoro Technique is another helpful method where you work in focused bursts of 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute break. This not only enhances concentration but also prevents burnout from extended periods of work. Temptation bundling is a clever way to combine tasks you need to do, like studying for your MCAT, with something you enjoy, such as watching videos on TikTok after accomplishing a set number of study cards. This creates a reward system that can motivate you to complete necessary tasks. Moreover, the “Eat the Frog” technique advocates for taking on the most challenging task in the morning when your energy is highest—this builds momentum for the rest of your day. Lastly, maintaining realistic goals is vital; they should push you without leading to unnecessary stress or burnout. By integrating these strategies into your daily routine, you will not only conquer procrastination but also cultivate a more productive and fulfilling study environment.
