She’s a BUSY bee 🐝
Being a part of various seniors groups has truly enriched my life and kept me active both physically and socially. Like many Filipino moms balancing family and community, I found my rhythm in activities such as choir singing, playing the ukulele, ballroom and line dancing, and even yoga. These hobbies not only bring me joy but also help maintain my health and mental sharpness. One of the most rewarding parts of joining these groups is the sense of belonging and support. Whether I’m singing "You Are My Sunshine" or practicing line dance steps, the shared experiences create strong bonds with friends who understand each other's culture and values, especially within the Filipino Canadian community. Learning the ukulele was a new adventure for me and quickly became a favorite pastime. Playing songs like "Sweet Caroline" lifts my spirits and is a wonderful way to entertain and connect with others during gatherings. Additionally, singing lullabies and traditional songs helps keep cherished memories alive and bridges generations. Balancing these activities with family time can be challenging, but it’s worth it. Staying busy with meaningful social engagements has helped me tackle the challenges of aging with positivity and energy. I encourage other seniors to find their passions and join community groups. It’s never too late to be a social butterfly and embrace the joy of staying active and connected.
