What I’m reading

I have been OUT FOR THE COUNT these last five days. Just laying in bed praying to the healing gods that I could feel better. I did 0 reading for the first four days. I’m so glad to be feeling well enough to read. Here’s how I’m coming back. #harrypotter #bookish #whatimreading #bookgirlie

... Read moreGetting back into reading after being 'out for the count' for five days felt like a warm hug, and there was no better companion than Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. When you're recovering, sometimes you just need something familiar and utterly captivating to lose yourself in. For me, the magic of Hogwarts is that perfect escape. As I curled up with my Kindle, seeing Dumbledore and Harry on the cover, I instantly felt that comforting pull back into their world. What makes Half-Blood Prince such an incredible comfort read, especially when you're feeling a bit under the weather? It's the perfect blend of deepening mystery, character development, and the ever-present charm of the wizarding world. We're past the initial introductions and into the heart of the saga, where stakes are higher, but the sense of belonging and friendship is stronger than ever. I love re-discovering the intricacies of Snape's past, Harry's lessons with Dumbledore, and the budding romances that add a touch of lightheartedness amidst the growing darkness. It’s a book that allows you to feel deeply without being overly emotionally draining, which is ideal when your energy levels are low. When I'm sick, my concentration isn't always at its peak, so a book I already know and love is a lifesaver. I don't have to work hard to understand the plot or remember characters. I can simply float along with the story, letting the familiar narrative wash over me. The joy of re-reading is discovering new details, appreciating the subtle foreshadowing, and relishing favorite moments all over again. It's like visiting old friends, and there's a unique comfort in knowing what's coming next while still finding new layers to appreciate. If you're also looking to get back into reading after a break, whether from illness or just a busy period, I highly recommend starting with a comfort read. It could be your favorite childhood series, a gripping thriller you've read before, or even a lighthearted romance. The goal is to make reading feel effortless and enjoyable. Set up a cozy spot – a comfy blanket, a warm drink, and your favorite reading device, like my trusty Kindle. Don't put pressure on yourself to read a certain number of pages; even a chapter or two a day is a victory. Sometimes, just the act of opening a book or e-reader is enough to rekindle that spark, and that's perfectly okay. The Harry Potter series, and Half-Blood Prince in particular, has this unique way of transporting you completely. It's more than just a story; it's a world you can inhabit, full of wonder and adventure. For those days when the real world feels a bit too much, or when you just need a gentle hand to guide you back to normalcy, these books are pure magic. My Kindle has been my best friend these past few days, allowing me to easily pick up and put down the story without losing my place. It’s made my recovery so much more bearable. I genuinely believe in the healing power of a good book, especially when it's one that feels like coming home.
