What I read in June

7/9 Edited to

... Read moreIn my recent reading journey through June, I found it fascinating how adaptations can differ so drastically from their original books. The series adaptation I watched was much more intense compared to the book, which I found to be quite mild. This contrast really influenced how I perceived the story, sometimes making the book feel slower or less exciting, but it also allowed me to appreciate the subtlety and depth of the written word. For fans of literary works like 'The Handmaid's Tale' by Margaret Atwood, which also has a gripping adaptation, it’s always intriguing to see how storytelling changes across mediums. Books often provide more internal insight into characters and their motivations, while series depend heavily on visual drama and fast pacing to keep viewers engaged. Personally, even though the book I read was slower and at times boring, I enjoyed it overall because it gave me time to reflect on themes and character development that the series only touched on superficially. This experience made me appreciate the patience required when reading versus the instant gratification of watching. Joining communities such as #lemon8bookclub and engaging with fellow readers helps broaden the discussion about how adaptations impact our understanding of a story. Sharing thoughts on pacing and content lets us appreciate both formats uniquely. If you’re someone who enjoys analyzing differences between books and their adaptations, I highly recommend reading with an open mind. Sometimes what feels slow initially can reveal greater layers of meaning on closer inspection. This month’s reading adventure reminded me that both books and series have their unique strengths and can complement each other in telling a rich, compelling story.

What I read in June & which books I’d recommend
This month was a bit of a rough reading month for me. There are a lot more no’s or maybe’s than the last couple of months. But I would say that part of the issue is that I LOVED every second of What Kind of Paradise, and I read that in the first couple days of the month. It ruined me. Honorabl

📚 After Skimming Through My June Read…
📚 After skimming through my June read, I can already tell this isn’t going to be a book I rush through. The journal prompts alone had me reflecting on self-love, boundaries, and the kind of love that feels safe, respectful, and healthy. June is going to be a good month for reflection. ❤️
