She handled it well! @Juicybooty3000 #saramovedin #blooddraw #sisters #pregnant
It was quite the day accompanying my sister, Sara, who you might know as @Juicybooty3000, for her latest pregnant blood draw. Anyone who's been through it, or supported someone going through it, knows it's rarely a walk in the park. For us, it was a mix of nervous energy, sisterly banter, and a whole lot of anticipation for what's to come! The morning started with a bit of a rush. I was running a little behind, but hey, priorities! As Sara jokingly (or maybe not so jokingly) exclaimed, 'YOU'RE LATE!' I had to quickly explain, 'I HAD TO GET SNACKS!' Because let's be real, snacks are essential for any and all appointments, especially when you're pregnant and dealing with needles. Those little pick-me-ups can make all the difference, trust me. We brought along some nuts – though, as the OCR shows, a few almost ended up in my mouth mid-conversation: 'CREATE OH THERE'S NUTS IN MY MOUTH.' Once we were in the waiting room, the typical pre-draw jitters set in. We were trying to keep our voices down, but at one point, I found myself whispering, 'WHY ARE YOU WHISPERING I DON'T,' and Sara replied, 'I THINK THEY CAN HEAR ME!' It's funny how a simple blood test can make you feel like you need to whisper secrets. The whole vibe was a mix of 'ARE YOU EXCITED' for the baby and a bit of apprehension for the poke. When it was her turn, the usual questions came up: 'WHAT ARM ARE YOU GONNA PICK?' I tried to keep her distracted, pointing out random things and just chatting away. It's amazing what a good distraction can do when you're feeling a bit uneasy. I even joked about how they 'YOU GUYS NEED A RECLINER IN HERE' – because comfort is key, especially during pregnancy! Seeing her tilt her head away, 'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA SEE OH,' was so relatable. It’s totally okay to not watch! Then came the moment of truth. She was so brave! The technician was great, and before we knew it, I heard, 'YOU'RE ALMOST DONE OKAY.' A wave of relief washed over both of us. After it was all over, the little bandage on her arm was even 'IT'S PINK' – a cute little detail. 'YOU DID IT!' I told her, feeling so proud. It’s these small moments of support that really count during pregnancy. For anyone heading to a blood draw, especially a pregnant one, here are a few takeaways from our experience: Bring Snacks: Seriously, don't skip this. A little fuel can curb nausea and keep spirits up. Bring a Support Person: Having someone there to talk to, distract you, or just hold your hand can make a huge difference. Don't Watch if You Don't Want To: It's perfectly fine to look away or even close your eyes. Communicate: If you feel faint or uncomfortable, let the technician know immediately. Ask for Comfort: If they have recliners, don't hesitate to ask! It was a small part of Sara's #pregnancyjourney, but it highlighted the strength of sisterhood and the little ways we can support each other through it all. So glad my sister @Juicybooty3000 handled it so well!
