you are not the problem

1/29 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, struggling with change often feels like an uphill battle because we tend to blame ourselves when habits don’t improve. However, what truly makes a difference is not a sudden epiphany but the systems we put in place to support our goals. James Clear famously writes that we don't rise to the level of our goals but fall to the level of our systems. This resonates deeply when you think about how easy it is to overestimate the impact of one big decision or moment and underestimate the power of consistent small actions. For example, when I tried to get healthier, I initially focused on a single, dramatic shift: cutting all junk food overnight. Inevitably, this led to frustration and relapse because I lacked smaller, manageable habits that could be maintained daily. When you understand that "the problem is bad habits repeat themselves again and again" because the system supporting your change is flawed, you can reframe your approach. Instead of trying to overhaul everything at once, start by implementing tiny improvements—like drinking an extra glass of water each day or going for a five-minute walk. These incremental changes, compounded, create real momentum. Adopting this mindset helps you feel less like the problem and more like someone looking for a better strategy. It’s empowering because it shifts the focus from self-criticism to system-building. When habits fail, it's not a reflection of your character but a signal to redesign your process. Bottom line: Change isn’t about a singular defining moment but persistent, small improvements. Letting that sink in can transform your journey toward lasting habits and personal growth.

Am I the Problem? Final Thoughts on YOU
Okay so I just finished YOU and… am I the problem?? Because this final season did not do it for me. It felt rushed, the storyline was weird, and Joe made choices that didn’t even feel like him. Like sir… be serious. No spoilers, but that ending? I had to pause and stare at the wall for a second.
