Empty Wells

We often feel drained not because we are doing too much, but because we are doing it without being filled. God never designed us to live off our own strength. When we try to pour into others without first receiving from Him, we begin to experience fatigue that goes deeper than the physical; it reaches the soul (Jeremiah 2:13).

The tension we feel is real. Part of us wants to slow down and seek God, while another part pushes us to keep going, to perform, and to produce. But the more we ignore intimacy with Him, the heavier everything becomes. What once felt meaningful starts to feel overwhelming (Galatians 5:17).

Jesus invites us into a different way of living, one rooted in rest and connection. When we come to Him, we are not stepping away from responsibility; we are stepping into the only place that can sustain it (Matthew 11:28-30).

God bless.

... Read moreIn my own life, I've experienced the deep exhaustion that comes from trying to maintain strength and productivity without reconnecting spiritually. It’s like drawing water from an empty well—we can keep going for a while, but eventually, our energy runs out, and the fatigue runs deeper than just physical tiredness. The scripture from Galatians 5:17 really resonates with me: following the flesh leads to internal conflict and burnout, but focusing on the Spirit offers peace and strength. What has helped me is setting intentional moments each day to pause and seek God’s presence—whether through prayer, meditation on Scripture, or simply quiet reflection. I’ve learned that this isn’t about stepping away from responsibilities, but stepping into a source of true refreshment. Matthew 11:28-30 reminds me that Jesus invites us into a life of rest, which sustains us for the work ahead. When we abide in God, it’s like filling our wells with living water, so we’re no longer empty when the pressures of life come. Instead, we’re replenished and empowered to love, serve, and persevere without losing ourselves in exhaustion. I encourage anyone feeling overwhelmed to explore these spiritual practices and experience the renewal that abiding in God brings. It transforms the tension between wanting to slow down and the push to keep going into a peaceful rhythm guided by the Spirit.
