I’m going to be honest—I am extremely selfish with my mornings. If I don’t have a quiet, slow start to my day, it’s hard for me to feel on track.
When I just had one baby, keeping my mornings was manageable. My oldest would sleep in until 8 most days, and my husband left for work around 7:30. I could get up around 6, read my Bible, work out, drink my coffee, and feel ready to take on the day by 8:30.
But everything changed when I had my second baby, and my first turned two. Suddenly, my oldest was waking up at 6:30, demanding breakfast, and my newborn would only sleep if I was next to her. I had to pivot.
It took a few months (and a lot of trial and error), but I’ve found some ways to preserve as much of my quiet, slow mornings as possible.#morningswithmytoddler#sahmlife#sahm

1. **Wake up early**: Rising before your children offers a quiet time for reflection, exercise, or a moment of peace. Try setting your alarm for at least 30 minutes to an hour before they wake.
2. **Prepare engaging activities**: Have stimulating activities ready for your toddler to keep them entertained while you enjoy your morning routine. This could include coloring books, puzzles, or sensory play trays.
3. **Meal prep**: Set aside time during the week to prepare breakfasts. Having healthy meals prepped can make morning chaos more manageable and ensures a nutritious start to the day.
4. **Reorganize your workout**: If you enjoy working out, consider moving your exercise time to later in the day. This allows you to engage in self-care without disrupting your morning tranquility.
5. **Stay flexible**: Embrace the unpredictability of parenting. While a plan is invaluable, the ability to adapt will help you maintain a sense of calm, even on hectic mornings.
By integrating these practices, you can enjoy a more serene home environment and start your day on a positive note.
