My favorite places in TN/NC 👇
Me and my fiancé have made a real effort to travel close to home since, until we make some extra cash, we can’t go too far for too long. These are some of my top places.
📍Cades Cove: This is a beautiful loop trail that you drive in Gatlinburg, TN. We got there early in the morning so the wildlife was more active and seen 8 bear. We packed lunches and then hit the arcade after.
📍Max Patch: This is also a loop trail, but that you walk. There’s an easy hike and a more intermediate one. The intermediate one would be easy as long as it wasn’t your 4th of the day like it was for us. It is easily one of my favorite places. The views are beautiful ans the grass at the top is so soft I went barefoot.
📍Margarette Falls: This is the first hike I’ve ever done, and the one I’ve done the most. It’s a decently long hike. Definitely set a few hours aside, definitely if you want to enjoy the falls. There is water crossing but usually depending on recent conditions you can rock hop across.
📍Fall Creek Falls: This one will always hold a place in my heart. There’s a lookout from the parking lot, but also you can hike to the bottom (which of course we did). There is a lot of steps but also a lot of cool rock formations to check out on the way. After we left here we stopped at the Fall Creek Falls lake, and that is where my now fiancé proposed!
📍High falls: This one was close to 3 or 4 others in the area so we spent a whole day waterfall hopping. I loved all that I seen, but the sheer size of this one cannot be overstated. There is also a covered bridge at the top which was nice.
📍Laurel Falls: This trail is not too strenuous, but it is a steady incline. The trail keeps going past the falls, but we went no further. Where the falls is at is super cool and I’ve never seen anything like it.
