Severely Underrated
This book is severely under hyped, which is crazy since it's so brilliant!
James Islington does a masterful job creating such a well-developed world. I tend to shy away from high fantasy/sci-fi as sometimes I feel the world building overshadows the character development, but that was not the case for this one.
The characters are amazing and the voice/storytelling style is perfection. Vis was instantly likeable and his internal conflict was so compelling. The pacing, political intrigue, and dark academia vibes made this book impossible to put down. I was fully invested all the way through!
If you only take one book rec from me this year, PLEASE let it be this one!
